What is literature for you?

After reading some definitions on literature, I'd like to know what is literature for you and how important it is in your teaching experience.

The term literature includes the textual manifestation of writing, literary works and poetry and prose. A literary work must be creative and it must also include a wider range of words different from the ones that we use in everyday language.

  2. Besides the definition we talked about last class, I consider as literature every piece of work that has become famous because of something. It obviously must have creativity and make use of imagination, but some non-fiction stories told with some use of creative language is considered as literature for sure.

Literature is really important in my teaching experience because I enjoy reading, so I try to include books in my plans to make my students appreciate it too.
